Anticipation is rising in advance of the Association of Online Publishers (AOP) Digital Summit next week on Friday 15 October. The programme comprises entrepreneurs and global players from key brands to provide a debating forum on this year’s theme: how to build world class digital media businesses.
The new venue – Westminster Bridge Park Plaza – will see keynotes and speakers share their learnings and discuss their ideas for the future of their businesses. The themes this year, have been dictated by AOP members who strive to delve deeper into issues and trends surrounding: Editorial; B2B; Diversifying Revenues and Product Development and Technology.
To focus delegates’ minds – the event opens with a rousing panel featuring principal voices from across the media industry: Matt Brittin, UK MD of Google; Tim Brooks, MD, Guardian News & Media; Stephen Miron, CEO, Global Radio; Mark Wood, UK CEO of Future Publishing and moderator Kate Silverton, Will tell us where we stand, and where we go from here, with 2011 around the corner.
Tim Weller, Group CEO of Incisive Media will be part of the panel discussing “building B2B value in a B2C world”. In a recent interview for AOP, Tim identified the biggest challenge for him:
“Where we had controlled circulation and rigorous auditing, the one thing we all knew, was our audience – in great detail. In the online world, with free access to all – we may have lost sight of the fact that we have to truly get to know and understand our audience. Really knowing, who the readers and viewers of our content are, and engaging with them.”
He also explains in the interview his aim to take Incisive ‘back to the future’: maintaining the levels of innovation and risk-taking that the company had back when it was a 13-strong startup. He explains how the processes which are part of the territory of a larger organisation are one of the main threats to your business. Tim will be joined by Mike Butcher, Editor, TechCrunch Europe; Kevin Eyres, MD, LinkedIn Europe and Tim Potter, Managing Director Business Publishing, Centaur Media on the AOP Summit B2B panel, moderated by Douglas McCabe, Media Analyst, Enders Analysis.
Keynote speakers include insights from TED fellow and multi-award winning design guru Jacek Utko, of innovative Swedish publisher Bonnier, the organisation behind the much discussed Mag+ tablet prototype. Also Jay Altschuler, Global Media Communications Planning Director of Unilever, will share his thoughts on what a market leader looks for in today’s digital publishing businesses, as the global FMCG giant gets set to double its digital ad spend. While David Moody, Director of Strategy, BBC Worldwide will align with the topic of revenue diversification as he explains how a globally successful media corporation plans to create new revenues around content.
Don’t miss out on the chance to hear new ideas, debate thoughts, share learnings and network with peers – and competitors – at the AOP Digital Publishing Summit on 15 October at Westminster Bridge Park Plaza, London.
