Duncan Tickell is the commercial director of Immediate Media, the newly-formed company encompassing BBC Magazines, Origin Publishing and Magicalia.
Immediate operates a number of major brands including Top Gear, Radio Times and Lonely Planet. It operates 34 websites and 50 magazines across the UK, reaching 11 million people. It also licenses its brands for publication in countries including Brazil, Australia and China (you can read about how it does it here).
Last year, Immediate’s two branches, Immediate London and Immediate Bristol, both grew their pre-tax profits despite declining revenues. The firm is trying to build a modern consumer magazine business combining both digital and newsstand products, a process in which Duncan plays a key part.
Prior to joining Immediate, Duncan was for three years Magicalia’s managing director for publishing, following senior roles at VNU/Incisive Media and Dennis Publishing.
