Tyler Hicks is an American journalist who works a staff photographer for The New York Times. Based in Turkey, he typically covers foreign affairs, with an emphasis in recent years on conflict and war, but also works at times on assignments across the United States.He was won several awards. He was named the newspaper photographer of the year by the Missouri School of Journalism's Pictures of the Year International contest in 2007.. He shared the 2009 Pultizer Prize for International Reporting with a team from The New York Times recognized for coverage of Pakistan and Afghanistan, where he works frequently in the field, focusing on the ground-level experience.
