Briefing Media is pleased to announce that Andy Oakes, the former publisher of New Media Age, has today joined the company as an associate director.
Andy left the Centaur title in June 2011 following the decision to scale back NMA’s activities and suspend the printed version.
Rory Brown, co-founder of Briefing Media, said today: “Andy is joining the team at a pivotal time in our development. The company’s initial site – TheMediaBriefing – is fast approaching its first anniversary and we have exciting plans to build on that growth.
“The media industry itself is in the midst of huge change brought about by the continuing development of digital and mobile channels. It is ironic that at a time of disruption, the coverage of emerging media business models is weakening. TheMediaBriefing aims to fill that gap through a combination of our exclusive real-time semantic intelligence technology and expert opinion pieces.”
Andy Oakes said: “I’m excited to be joining TheMediaBriefing because I have immense respect for what Neil and Rory have already done with the site and the exceptional quality of the events. The media industry is an extremely interesting place to be at the moment and we intend for TheMediaBriefing to be at the heart of that.”
Neil Thackray, co-founder of Briefing Media added “Andy brings deep experience of our markets together with an extensive personal network of contacts across the industry. As we build the company and launch into new verticals Andy’s experience will be a great asset and we look forward to him joining our team.”
About Briefing Media
The company was founded in the summer of 2010 to explore the intersection of old and new media. Using our bespoke semantic algorithm we sift and collate a wide variety of business information sources – trade publications, national newspapers, bloggers, research labs and social media – to provide real-time intelligence about the major issues facing senior executives across a range of industries. Our semantic intelligence is then enhanced with expert commentary from our analysts and senior contributors.
Our first site www.TheMediaBriefing.com was launched at the end of September 2010. Under the stewardship of Patrick Smith, editor and chief analyst, TheMediaBriefing has steadily grown its readership, organised two major industry conferences and indexed more than 100,000 articles. The company plans to launch into additional industry sectors in the coming months.
